Yeah My wife had the same problem, but I THINK I solved it-at least for now. This usually happens on first install at least I think so. I keep going back and forth between Textra and Hangouts, but with Hangouts recently I've had quite a few crashes and one text sent out using my Google Voice number rather than my phone's number, confusing the recipient (and me, as I'm not quite sure how it happened and I'm not sure that I wouldn't do it again. Another easier fix is to hold finger on Textra, opens app settings. I made sure that the app allowed sound notifications however, I still do not receive any sound or vibration notifications. I picked the sound, vibration style and put the volume along with vibration at the highest setting. There is no indication in the app as to whether a message has gone through or not. I have tried to go to settings in the Samsung Gear app, but under manage notifications (where you turn notifications on and off for various apps), 'messages' is not listed, so there is not switch to turn messages on or off. for text messages and in settings made it my default messenger app. Since the July 18th update users have been reporting missing text messages (both sending and receiving). I'm a bit worried by the recent change log item "Battery drain fixed!" so I guess I'll keep an eye on it. They are listed in the messaging app, but the watch does not show new text notifications any more. Textra is a good app - I keep trying it out. Now that you know, you can use the email method to Verizon's text gateway to test that without sending a message to yourself within the app (and it will work with any texting app.) I should have worded that differently - what I meant to say, really, is that I understand a decision by the app not to sound an alarm when you send yourself a message within the app (though it'd be nice to document that, and it seems weird to vibrate but not sound an alarm.) Your reasons I understand, but they are pretty rare for almost every user.
